Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Thousands of pro-Palestine advocates throughout the world marked on Saturday the #BoycottPUMA Global Day of Action, exposing the global sportswear manufacturer complicity in Israeli apartheid against the Palestinians.
In less than four years, more than 100,000 pro-Palestine activists have joined the global #BoycottPuma campaign, calling on PUMA to end its complicity in Israeli apartheid oppressing millions of Palestinians.
They have been calling PUMA to end its sponsorship of the Israel Football Association (IFA) which operates in illegal Israeli settlements on land stolen from Palestinians. Israeli settlements are considered a war crime under international law.
By sponsoring the IFA, Puma is complicit in supporting these crimes, say the activists.
As one of the world’s top athletic brands, Puma’s sponsorship brings international legitimacy to the IFA and helps sustain the infrastructure of illegal Israeli settlements, they add.
Puma’s exclusive licensee in Israel, Delta Galil Industries, was also listed by the UN as a company operating in illegal settlements.
In September 2018, more than 200 Palestinian teams called on Puma to end its support of Israel’s military occupation by terminating its sponsorship deal with the IFA.
