Ramallah (QNN)- Journalists and activists on Wednesday launched a campaign called “Facebook Censors Jerusalem” to raise awareness about Meta’s efforts to censor Palestinian content on its platforms.
Billboards spread in the streets of Ramallah, while journalists and activists organized a vigil in protest against Meta’s efforts to silence the Palestinian narrative.
The campaign comes after a vicious crackdown by Meta on Palestinian pages and accounts, including dozens of news pages and accounts of journalists, who have recently covered the Jerusalem resistance operation by Fadi Abu Shkeidem.
The campaign has created the “FBCensorsJerusalem” hashtag to support Palestinians who have been restricted on social media platforms. It is also denouncing Meta’s “double standards policy” when it comes to Palestinian and Israeli content.
Meta has been accused of designing algorithms, which censor the experiences of Palestinians and their narrative both on Facebook and Instagram.
