Pentagon: Israel to decide on Lebanon ground invasion, no US intelligence support provided

Washington (Quds News Network)- The US Department of Defense has stated that the decision on whether to launch a ground invasion in Lebanon rests solely with the occupation state of Israel, with the Pentagon offering no intelligence support for Israel’s current operations in the region. This contradicts previous statements, reiterating US commitment to providing what it described as security assistance to Israel, ensuring the occupation state can “defend itself”.
Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh clarified today that no Israeli ground incursion into Lebanon appeared imminent, but referred questions about operations and plans to Israeli authorities.
Singh’s comments came amid growing tensions, with Israel’s military chief confirming that airstrikes on Lebanon would continue. However, it remains unclear if the US is sharing real-time intelligence on Hezbollah missiles targeting Israel.
Earlier on Monday, the Pentagon reiterated its commitment to providing ‘security assistance’ to Israel, enabling it to ‘defend itself.’
Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder had announced the deployment of specialized US forces to the Middle East to support emergency planning and response efforts, citing the escalation of violence.
