PA’s Preventive Security Service arrests child over Facebook post

Occupied Hebron (QNN)- The Palestinian Authority’s Preventive Security Service (PSS) arrested Amir Abu Sharar, family members of him told QNN.

The PA arrested Amir Abu Sharar (16 years old) from Dura in occupied Hebron over a Facebook post.

Amir’s brother told QNN that the PSS arrested his brother over a FB post. He added that his brother is diabetic and that he needs to take his medication on a daily basis, otherwise his life will be in danger.

Concurrently, the Palestinian Authority continues to carry out a wide-range arrest campaign, repressing the freedom of expression. Dozens have been arrested for their political background.

Most arrests happen over criticizing PA’s political positions. The arrests mostly target members of other factions in the West Bank.

Meanwhile, ‘Lawyers for Justice’ had condemned the arrests, especially that they are not based on charges or proof.

The group demanded “to immediately release all detainees without conditions.” It also stressed that “the Public Prosecutor should investigate torture allegations documented in Jericho”.

The group called, as well, for bringing those responsible for justice.
