Paris Fountain Dyed Red in Protest Against Gaza Bloodshed

Paris (Quds News Network)- French activists turned a central Paris fountain red on Wednesday to protest the ongoing bloodbath in Gaza.
The striking act took place at the Fontaine des Innocents (Fountain of the Innocents), a historic monument in the heart of the French capital. Activists from Oxfam, Amnesty International, and Greenpeace poured red dye into the fountain’s water. They raised banners reading “Ceasefire now” and “Gaza: Stop the bloodbath.”
In a joint statement, the activists said the action aimed to denounce France’s slow and inadequate response to the dire humanitarian emergency in Gaza.
“France cannot just issue statements,” said Cécile Duflot, former French minister and current executive director of Oxfam France.
Clémence Laguarde, who helps coordinate Oxfam’s humanitarian response in Gaza, stressed the urgency. “People in Gaza need everything. This is about survival,” she told Agence France-Presse.
In a statement, Greenpeace France said: “This operation aims to denounce France’s slow response to the dire humanitarian emergency facing the people of Gaza today.”
The organizations urged French President Emmanuel Macron to act boldly. They called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, a ban on weapons sales to Israel, and a full review of the EU-Israel cooperation agreement.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has waged a genocidal war on Gaza. The campaign includes widespread killings, starvation tactics, forced displacement, and relentless bombardment.
Despite repeated international calls and rulings from the International Court of Justice demanding a halt, the assault continues with US support.
So far, the genocide has killed and wounded over 177,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children. More than 11,000 people remain missing, while mass displacement and famine have claimed countless more lives—many of them young children.
