Palestine commemorates 45th anniversary of Land Day online

Several Palestinians and Pro-Palestine advocates from all over the world commemorated yesterday the 45th anniversary of Land Day, reminding the world that Israel’s colonisation of Palestinian lands has been continuous since the establishment of the so-called ‘Israel’.
The activists commemorated Land Day by launching an online campaign, tweeting on the hashtag #PalestineLandDay, as several Palestine advocacy groups participated, including Palestine Defense Forces, VPalestine, Palestine Sunbird, Palestine Online, and Act4Palestine.
The activities also included changing Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter profile pictures to images that reflect the occasion.
On March 30, 1976, Israeli occupation forces killed 6 Palestinians, and injured hundreds in the Israeli-occupied Palestine.
Palestinians were protesting that day against Israel’s expropriation of thousands of donums of their lands.
Since then, this day has been known as Land Day.
The activists said, “As Palestinians, we consider this day a day to celebrate our land; a day on which we renew our promise to work towards resisting the occupation until our stolen land returns to the rightful owners.”
The activists also said on this day, “We remember and memorialise the blood of the martyrs, the anguish of the prisoners, the wounded and the mistreated peoples, who have made sacrifices in the name of Palestine.”

It's painful to think that now only 15-percent of historic Palestine is inhabited or owned by Palestinians. #PalestineLandDay pic.twitter.com/mP91FmvtHZ

Today marks 45 years since 6 Palestinians were killed while protesting the illegal seizure of their land. The occupation robs people of their homes, their human rights and compromises our national security.
Today, we renew the call for peace and accountability. #LandDay

6 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces in 1976 when hundreds of people protested the illegal taking of homes and farms leaving families homeless.
This day is now referred to as #LandDay & recognizes the fight against oppression + violence continues. https://t.co/HEW5xw4mtQ
