Palestinian Youth Group Reveals Identity of Israeli Soldier Involved in Sinwar’s Killing

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- A group of Palestinian youths has revealed the identity of an Israeli soldier involved in the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

In a video posted online, the group disclosed the identity of the Israeli soldier, Yitzhak Cohen. The video included a phone call in which a member of the group, from the 1948-occupied Palestinian territories, spoke to Cohen, ending the conversation with the message: “Yitzhak Cohen: It’s Not a Matter of ‘If,’ But ‘When.'”

The video further detailed Cohen’s identity, sharing images of his family, information about his movements, and a direct message to him from the “sons of Abu Ibrahim” in the occupied territories. Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader, is referred to as Abu Ibrahim within the group.

Sinwar was killed in October 2024 fighting a group of Israeli trainee soldiers who came upon him by chance. Hamas confirmed his death while engaged in battle in Tal as-Sultan, Rafah.

The fact that Sinwar died fighting has added a final chapter to his story as a fighter and leader who has been involved with Hamas since its founding. He led Hamas in Gaza after Israel’s killing of the group’s political leaders, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran last year.

Sinwar had become Israel’s number one target, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had abandoned efforts to rescue the Israeli hostages in Gaza and instead made pursuing Sinwar his main priority, Israeli officials said.

He is seen by Israel as the mastermind behind the October 7 operation “Al-Aqsa Flood”.
