Palestinian youth fatally shot by Israeli forces in Jenin raid

Jenin (QNN)- A Palestinian youth was shot and killed by Israeli occupation forces during a daylight military raid into the town of Ya’bad, southwest of the northern occupied West Bank city of Jenin on Wednesday.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that 22-year-old Mohammad Badarneh was critically shot in the chest with an Israeli live bullet during a military raid into the Ya’bad town. He was rushed to Ibn Sina Hospital where he was pronounced dead, only a few minutes later.

Local sources reported that an Israeli special forces unit raided the town in the early afternoon hours and stationed on the roofs of the houses.

Confrontations then erupted between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers as the latter besieged a house of a former Palestinian detainee and called him to surrender hismself. The wanted Palestinian was identifed as Abdel-Ghani Herzallah and he was arrested by the forces.

The West Bank city of Jenin has been the center of Israeli aggressions and military operations in the few past months, with about 50 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the start of the year in Jenin alone, including Al Jazeera’s veteran journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The killings come amid high tensions on the ground as Israeli forces and settlers have escalated their attacks and crackdown against Palestinians.

Since the start of 2022, Israeli occupation forces and settlers have killed 208 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza Strip.
