Palestinian woman dies of cold and hunger on Poland-Belarus border
Poland-Belarus border (QNN)- A Palestinian-Syrian woman died from cold and hunger on the Poland-Belarus border on Monday. The Belarusian authorities have not commented on the report, according to the Consolidated Rescue Group.
Raja’a Hasan Hasan (43 years old), from Al Neirab refugee camp in Aleppo, was trying to reach Europe to help her ill husband and four children, of whom two are wanted for military service by Assad’s regime.
The Consolidated Rescue Group published a recording of Raja’a, which it said contained her last words.
“We are fine. Just pray for us”, Raja’a says. After that, she says that it was impossible to continue her way to Europe and that she decided to go back to Syria. The recording was destined to be sent to her family.
According to the group, Raja’a and a group of refugees decided to go back to Minsk but they were arrested at a train station in Grodno from which they were sent to Slonim. At the time, Raja’a got very sick after spending several days in the cold weather in the woods without water or food.
The group cited members of the group that accompanied Raja’a as saying that they stayed four days in a camp, where her condition got worse. After that, she was taken to a hospital, where she died.
Before the war in Syria, Neirab camp was home to more than 20,000 Palestine refugees. It was targeted on several occasions by Assad forces, Iranian forces, and opposition militia, pushing hundreds of them to escape and try to find shelter in other Syrian cities or even outside Syria.
