Occupied Palestine (QNN)- UNESCO has added Palestinian Embroidery (Tatreez) to its Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Culture stated that during the 16th session of the UNESCO's World Heritage Committee, the Palestinian embroidery has been added to the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list.
Traditional Palestinian embroidery is a skill many women in Palestine learn as children and practice into adulthood. It is used to decorate traditional dresses known as Thobes.
Embroidery patterns are usually cross-stiched on Thobes and headpieces. Each Palestinian village has its own type of threads, colors, and patterns of embroidery.
The occupation state has tried to promote Tatreez as part of the Israeli culture. The Minister of Culture said adding Tatreez to the UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list is "victory for the Palestinian narrative."
