Palestinian prisoner completes 19 years in Israeli jails
Ramallah (QNN)- A Palestine prisoner serving a lifetime sentence in Israeli jails completed today 19 years behind bars, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS).
The PPS said that the prisoner Naji Bsharat, 44 years old, completed today 19 years in Israeli jails and is currently imprisoned in Nafha desert prison.
Prisoner Naji, from Tamoun town to the south of Tubas, is a father of one girl who was three years old when he was arrested.
Palestinian prisoners’ advocacy groups said that Israeli occupation detained 456 Palestinians during this January, including 93 minors and 8 women.
There are also 26 Palestinian prisoners before Oslo.
The number of Palestinian prisoners serving a sentence above 20 years is 497, while the number of prisoners serving life a sentence is 543.
There are 33 Palestinian prisoners serving more than 25 years of sentence, and 57 serving more than 20 years of sentence.
By the end of January, 4500 Palestinians have been imprisoned in Israeli jails, among them 40 women, 170 children and 45 held in administrative detention.
It also said that there are 11 Palestinian priosners suffering from cancer, and 300 priosners have chronic diseases.
