Palestinian Newborn Photographer Killed in Israeli Strike After Fleeing Gaza City
Gaza (QNN)- Palestinian newborn photographer Yahia Barzaq was killed Tuesday night in an Israeli airstrike in the central Gaza Strip, just days after he was forced to flee Gaza City amid Israeli threats and heavy bombardment. Barzaq was killed along with five others, including a child, in an Israeli airstrike targeting a carpentry workshop in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza. In a post and stories shared on his Instagram account, Barzaq wrote that he was forced to flee Gaza City to the south due to Israeli threats of forced displacement and relentless bombardment. “My body was displaced to the south, but my heart is still in Gaza City,” he said.
Before the two-years-long Israeli genocide in Gaza, Barzaq’s instagram page was adorned with carefully constructed and highly styled photographs of beautiful newborn babies. He owned a private studio for newborn photography in Gaza City. Now, many of the images on his social media feed are marked by a stark black line, a haunting symbol of death and destruction. He once shared a video mourning babies killed during the Israeli genocide, remembering their joyful moments.
