Palestinian mother sentenced l to 18 months in Israeli prison

Ramallah (QNN) – An Israeli military court sentenced today Rawan Abdullah Samhan, a mother of four children the youngest of whom is eight months old, to 18 months in prison, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS).

It said in a statement that Samhan, from the town of Dahrieh in the south of the West Bank, was first detained in 2014 during a visit to her brother who is serving a 19-year sentence in prison for resisting the occupation. She was allegedly found in possession of a sharp object.

Samhan was held for 12 days before she was released after paying a fine of 20,000 Israeli shekels (app. $5,700), while her trial continued for five years until she was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
