Palestinian factions applaud Amnesty’s report about Israel’s apartheid

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Several Palestinian factions, including Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, have applauded on Tuesday Amnesty International’s new report that says Israel’s actions against Palestinians amount to the international definition of “apartheid”.
The Islamic resistance movement of Hamas praised the report, saying it would contribute to exposing Israel’s practices against the Palestinians.
The movement “views with great appreciation and respect the efforts of Amnesty International in issuing this professional report,” Hisham Qassem, head of the “Hamas Media Department” said.
The report “puts the facts in perspective and describes the tragic reality of our Palestinian people,” he added while condemning the Israeli campaign against the report and urged all international human rights organizations to continue in “exposing” Israel’s actions and policies.
The Islamic Jihad movement also said it “welcomes Amnesty’s report despite the fact that the movement disagrees with Amnesty in using several terms..” including the term “Jewish State.”
“The State of Palestine welcomes the report by Amnesty International on Israel’s apartheid regime and racist policies and practices against the Palestinian people,” the PA Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
“Amnesty International joins a long list of distinguished Palestinian, Israeli and international human rights organizations and experts in exposing Israel’s colonial occupation for what it is: an institutionalized system of oppression and domination over the Palestinian people, designed to legitimize its colonial settlement expansion, deny the Palestinian people their inalienable right to self-determination, and erase Palestinian history, present, and future in their homeland,” the statement read.
It described the report as “a detailed affirmation of the cruel reality of entrenched racism, exclusion, oppression, colonialism, apartheid, and attempted erasure that the Palestinian people have endured since the [1948] nakba [catastrophe].”
The PA ministry also called on the prosecutor of the ICC to investigate Israel’s “crime against humanity of apartheid without delay.”
The Palestinians will continue to “exercise their legitimate right to oppose and resist all forms of occupation, colonization, dehumanization, racism, and apartheid until they achieve justice and realize their rights to self-determination, return, freedom, and independence,” it said.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) also welcomed the report, saying it is an “affirmation to the Israeli war crimes committed against Palestinians and that ‘Israel’ is an apartheid state.”
Amnesty International said in a new report that Israel’ is carrying out “the crime of apartheid against Palestinians” and must be held accountable for treating them as “an inferior racial group”.
Released on Tuesday, the 278-page report by the leading rights group details how Israeli occupation authorities enforce a system of oppression and domination against the Palestinians.
The damning investigation sets out how massive seizures of Palestinian land and property, unlawful killings, forcible transfer, drastic movement restrictions, and the denial of nationality and citizenship to Palestinians are all components of a system “which amounts to apartheid under international law.”
Amnesty said that this system is maintained by violations which the rights group found to “constitute apartheid as a crime against humanity, as defined in the Rome Statute and Apartheid Convention.”
Amnesty International has also called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to consider the “crime of apartheid in its current investigation in the OPT” and called on all states to “exercise universal jurisdiction to bring perpetrators of apartheid crimes to justice.”
