Palestinian doctor killed by Israeli forces while on duty in Jenin military raid

Jenin (QNN)- A Palestinian doctor was fatally shot by Israeli occupation gunfire while treating wounded during a military raid into the Jenin refugee camp, north of the occupied West Bank on Friday.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that 43-year-old Abdullah Abu al-Teen, a doctor working at the Jenin public hospital, was shot in the head earlier on Friday while trying to treat casualties during an Israeli raid in the Jenin refugee camp.

The health ministry noted that Teen, a husband and a father of three children, was shot by Israeli soldiers in front of his hospital.

It was initially reported that the doctor had been killed, but he was later resuscitated, before succumbing to his wounds hours later.

Another 20-year-old Palestinian, identifed as Mateen Dabaya, was shot and killed with an Israeli bullet to the head during the same Israeli military raid into the camp.

Local sources said the killings took place shortly after Israeli special forces raided the camp, along with dozens of Israeli armored vehicles, at 8 am (05:00 GMT), during which armed confrontations broke out with Israeli occupation forces.

Videos circulated on social media showed Israeli forces shooting at ambulance crews.

At least five other Palestinians have been wounded with live ammunition on Friday morning in Jenin, according to the health ministry.

The West Bank city of Jenin has been the center of Israeli aggressions and military operations in the few past months, with about 47 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the start of this year in Jenin alone, including Al Jazeera’s veteran journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The killings come amid high tensions on the ground as Israeli forces and settlers have escalated their attacks and crackdown against Palestinians.
