Palestinian detainee Abu Hameed rushed to hospital after dramatic decline in health condition
Occupied Palestine (QNN) – Cancer-stricken Palestinian detainee Nasser Abu Hameed was rushed to hospital on Sunday evening after his health condition had dramatically deteriorated, Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said.
The PPS added that the Israeli prison administration transferred the detainee Abu Hameed to Assaf Harofeh hospital, after a sharp decline in the function of his immune system.
The family of Abu Hamid appealed to all parties concerned to take urgent and effective action to save the life of their son.
They also called on the Palestinian people to continue their popular support to press the Israeli occupation to release him as he’s facing an imminent risk of death.
In the same context, head of the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs Qadri Abu Baker has said that the health status of detainee Abu Hameed is a vivid example of the deliberate slow killing policy practiced against the Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails.
Abu Baker indicated that at least 15 cancer-stricken detainees in Israeli jails experience a policy of slow killing as a result of deliberate medical negligence and not receiving the appropriate treatment.
The 40-year-old detainee Abu Hameed, who is a resident of the al-Amari refugee camp, is among four other brothers who have been sentenced by the Israeli occupation for a life-term in prison.
His brothers, identified as Nasr, Nasser, Sharif, and Mohammed were detained by the Israeli occupation authorities in 2002, while his brother Islam was detained in 2018.
According to Palestinian figures, about 4,500 Palestinians, including 32 women and 160 children, are currently languishing in Israeli detention jails.
