Palestinian child dies of malnutrition in Gaza due to Israel’s starvation policy

Gaza Strip (QNN)- A six-year-old Palestinian child died on Sunday of malnutrition a result of Israel’s genocide war on the Gaza Strip, bringing the number of Gazans died of malnutrition to 41, medical sources reported.

Hikmat Bader, a child from Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, died due to malnutrition, dehydration, and a lack of medical supplies at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.

For over nine months, the Israeli occupation has imposed a tight siege on the Gaza Strip, severely limiting the flow of life-saving essential food and medical items.

As a part of a policy that amounts to collective punishment of civilians, the Israeli occupation has used starvation of the population as a weapon of war.

One in three children in northern Gaza are acutely malnourished or suffer from wasting, according to UNICEF. Over 33 people had died of malnutrition in Gaza, including 29 children, medical sources said.

According to the latest assessment of the Famine Review Committee of the Integrated Phase Classification (IPC), released on June 25, 96% of Gaza’s population of 2.2 million people face high levels of acute food insecurity through September, while 22%, over 495,000 people, face catastrophic levels of acute food insecurity. The IPC report indicated that 96% of the population faces extreme levels of hunger in the Gaza Strip.
