Palestine’s UN Ambassador urges international action against Israel’s deliberate targeting of children

New York (Quds News Network) – The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Ambassador Riyad Mansour, expressed today his concerns over the alarming situation of children in Gaza facing deliberate killings, injuries, maiming, starvation, orphanhood, displacement, diseases, and cold weather after 10 days of Israeli genocide.

Mansour conveyed these concerns in three identical letters addressed to the UN Secretary-General, the President of the Security Council for the current month (France), and the President of the UN General Assembly.

The letters outlined Israel’s continued deliberate targeting of Palestinian children, leading to a rising toll of martyrs since the start of Israel’s war on the Palestinian people in October, reaching 24,927 fatalities and over 62,388 injuries, along with thousands missing.

Reports indicate at least 9,600 children have been killed in Gaza and 95 children in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, until now.

He questioned how many Palestinian children must suffer before the international community takes action to halt Israel’s brutal offensive, hold Israeli war criminals accountable for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, fulfill ethical responsibilities, and adhere to obligations under international law.

Mansour emphasized the urgent need to stop the aggression, forced displacement of Palestinian civilians, collective eviction attempts, and protect Palestinian civilians, including children.

He underscored that there is no military solution to the Palestinian issue and called for a solution based on international law that supports the human rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and independence.

The senior Palestinian diplomat urged the international community, including the Security Council, the General Assembly, the Human Rights Council, the International Court of Justice, and the International Criminal Court, to take immediate and highly expedited actions according to international law, given Israel’s continued evasion of accountability.
