Palestine wins first place in Arab IoT & AI Challenge

Dubai (QNN)- A Palestinian project has won first place in the start-ups category at the Arab IoT and AI Challenge in Dubai.
The Palestinian start-up “Abjad” succeeded to take first place despite stiff competition by different Arab start-ups from UAE, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Morocco, and Egypt.
The Palestinian accomplishment comes following Palestine Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Challenge, which has been a great success and which was organized by Al Nayzak for Supportive Education and Scientific Innovation and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The winning project “Abjad” is an application created by Ayham Badr and Mahmoud Jarban. It used artificial intelligence to connect deaf and mute Arab persons with other members of society through turning speech into sign language that is presented by a virtual personality in the application. It also turns sign language into speech through an innovative keyboard.
