Palestine to sue Honduras over opening of diplomatic office in occupied Jerusalem

Ramallah (QNN)- The Palestinian Foreign Ministry decided to file a complaint with the UN over Honduras’ decision to open a diplomatic office in occupied Jerusalem.

The ministry condemned the move, saying it is a flagrant violation of the international law and legitimacy resolutions.

“this decision is in flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions”, said member of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) executive committee Hanan Ashrawi on Thursday.

In a press release, the ministry said such a decision will foil any regional or international effort aiming at achieving peace in the Palestinian territories.

The ministry requested from the Arab League council, which will convene on September 10, to denounce such a move and take punitive measures towards Honduras for violating UN Security resolution 478/1980.

The ministry will also request from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take similar punitive measures against Honduras.

Israeli sources revealed that Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez will travel to Israel on Friday to inaugurate a diplomatic office in Jerusalem, recognizing the occupied holy city as capital of the occupation state.
