Pakistan committed to its principled stance on Palestine, says Aurangzeb

Islamabad (QNN)- Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday reiterated that Pakistan is firmly committed to its principled position on the Palestinian issue and ‘Israel’.

In an important policy statement, Aurangzeb said that there had been no change in Pakistan’s policy in support of Palestine, according to Pakistan Observer.

The minister added that Pakistan’s state policy on Palestine was clear and based on the decrees of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam, adding that no policy or action could be adopted against the wishes and aspirations of the people of Pakistan.

The Foreign Ministry has made it clear that no delegation from Pakistan had visited ‘Israel’, she said, stressing Pakistan fully supported the Palestinian right to a referendum in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.

Pakistan has strongly rejected claims that it endorsed a visit by several of its nationals to Israel, according to local media, stressing that it has no relations with the country.

Israeli occupation President Isaac Herzog at the World Economic Forum last week confirmed he had met with a “Pakistani delegation of expats” a few weeks ago, which included two nationals living in the United States.

The Pakistani government has denied the group was on an official visit.

“Pakistan’s position on the Palestinian issue is clear and unambiguous. There is no change whatsoever in our policy on which there is complete national consensus. Pakistan steadfastly supports the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination,” said Pakistan’s foreign office in a statement.

The alleged delegation included Pakistani journalist Ahmed Qureshi and Jewish Pakistani Fischel Ben Khald. Both reportedly entered ‘Israel’ on Pakistani passports.

Herzog said the Pakistanis were “very welcome” to travel to ‘Israel’ and he was pleasantly surprised by the trip.

Aurangzeb also noted the world saw a two-state solution as a guarantee of lasting peace in the region. She said that the promise of a Palestinian state with pre-1967 borders, Jerusalem as its capital and geographical unity must be fulfilled.

Occupied Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir were the longest running issues on the UN Security Council agenda and their solution was the responsibility of the international community.

Till a just solution to these two problems, lasting peace in the world will remain a dream, she maintained.

“We will continue to do our utmost to support the just struggle of the people of Occupied Palestine and the Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir”, she said.
