Over 500 Dutch academics sign call to cut ties with ‘Israel’ over aggression on Gaza

Hundreds of academics have signed a petition calling on the Dutch government to cut relations with the occupation state of ‘Israel’ over Israel’s deadly aggression on the Gaza Strip.

“We declare we join the calls of our Palestinian colleagues to boycott Israeli academic institutions,” reads the petition, which is titled “Netherlands higher education stands in solidarity with Palestinians.”

The petition also calls on the Dutch government to “sever all economic, political and military ties with Israel.”

It also says ‘Israel’ violated international law in the lastest aggression on the Gaza Strip.

At least 279 Palestinians were killed, including 69 children and 40 women, and 1,910 others injured in the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

More than 90,000 Palestinians were displaced from their homes, and much of Gaza’s infrastructure and many residential buildings were completely destroyed or levelled.

19 families in the Gaza Strip have also been wiped off the population civil registry, including 45 children, after the Israeli bombardment on residential areas.

Among the 564 signers is a researcher at a state Holocaust research institute.

Kylie Thomas, a South Africa native, was the only one from the Netherlands Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies, or NIOD, who signed the petition.
