Over 50 media outlets protest Meta’s crackdown on Palestinian content
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Over 50 Palestinian media outlets have recently signed a petition to protest Meta’s crackdown on Palestinian content and journalism, according to Sada Social Center.
Sada Social Center, Palestinian Journalist syndicate (PJS), and media institutions have slammed the crackdown launched by the social media giant against Palestinian content and journalism.
Earlier this month, the Meta administration launched a crackdown against Palestinian news content, affecting a large number of journalists and media institutions, as Sada Social Center has documented more than 990 violations against Palestinian content so far this year, 49% of which were against journalists and media institutions’ accounts.
The Meta administration deliberately targets Palestinian content in response to Israeli occupation authorities’ requests under false pretexts, in an attempt to digitally assassinate the voice of the Palestinian press, said the center which specializes in protecting Palestinian narratives on social media platforms and monitoring violations.
The signatories of the petition expressed their concern about the ongoing crackdown in which Meta is aligned with the Israeli occupation in its fight against Palestinians, journalists and media institutions, and demanding respect for international laws that guarantee freedom of expression and access to information to the public without restrictions on social media platforms.
