Outrage following DSA statement on Rep. Jamaal Bowman

Washington (QNN)- The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has been under fire due to its recent statement, in which it rejected calls to expel Rep. Jamaal Bowman over his support to the occupation state of ‘Israel’.
The DSA on Thursday issued a statement following calls to expel Rep. Jamaal Bowman after he voted for funding Israel’s Iron Dome, met the Israeli Prime Minister Neftali Bennett and took part in a trip, organized by the zionist J Street, to occupied Palestine.
Over 460 major organizations and universities had signed a petition calling the DSA to expel Bowman. The signatories called on Bowman to “uphold Palestinian civil society’s call for BDS until apartheid Israel ends its illegal settlement expansion, dismantles its apartheid system, and grants Palestinians their right to return, Provide protection to and support for Palestinians through legislation and oppose anti-Palestinian legislation, like anti-free speech laws against BDS, and participate in the travel boycott for personal travel to Israel and Palestine.”
The DSA said it “is committed to the Palestinian fight for freedom” and that it “agrees with members who have signified the strategic importance of developing greater accountability for DSA elected”, however, it decided not to expel Bowman, citing its “developing electoral program and strategy for achieving material justice for Palestine”.
“We recognize the threat that Bowman and other members of the squad pose to the Zionist lobby and the important role DSA can play with them in advancing Palestinian rights and anti-imperialist struggle at the federal level”, the statement reads.
The DSA’s statement sparked outrage among activists on Social media, who described the organization as racist and questioned the real intentions of its members.
Idk why everyone’s tip toeing around it but just call DSA what they are – racist. All this arguing and unpacking just because folks are safeguarding them because they do “work” lol. Your member is helping genocide Palestinians. It’s racist and violent.

These DSA chauvinists are ready to pretend that tens of organizations didn’t sign the letter calling for Bowman’s expulsion. They are so desperate to frame the call for expulsion as a “fringe online movement” as if grassroots orgs didn’t call for it.https://t.co/Y2i7KZ2sdv https://t.co/jwXKKsxtfO

if you have a DSA member that is an AMERICAN GOVERMENT OFFICIAL allocating funding to the Iron Dome…it means the DSA materially supports Israeli warfare. your org has a hand in the state now.
that was the whole point of electoralism right. so how is this now hard to understand?

J Street is extremely problematic on BDS, the Palestinian right of return and many other issues. There’s literally no excuse for going to Palestine on a trip organized by J Street. One could go to Palestine with an organization that doesn’t violate BDS.

What’s the point of getting “pro-Palestinian” people in Congress if the minute they get there they start betraying you and arming the people who kill you while you make excuses for them and gaslight people that it’s all ok and we should shut up and take it?

DSA western chauvinism isn’t really that different than socialist american patriotism. Both are committed to the American project at the expense of the workers and colonized people outside of American empire.
