On Mother’s Day, ‘Israel’ holds 5 Palestinian mothers in its prisons

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- As most Arab countries are celebrating today Mother’s Day, ‘Israel’ is still holding five Palestinian mothers in its prisons.

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said on Tuesday that ‘Israel’ is holding 5 mothers in the Damon prison for their resistance to the occupation, denying them the right to celebrate this occasion with their families.

Some of those mothers have also been denied ordinary visits, the PPS said.

The PPS said ‘Israel’ also does not allow the families, permitted to visit their imprisoned loved ones, to have any physical contact as they always must speak while separated by barriers. Therefore, the detained mothers cannot hug or even touch their children.

“Female detainees face systematic violations deprived of basic rights guaranteed by International Law and all related treaties,” the PPS added.

The five mother detainees are:

•Isra Jaabis: from Jerusalem, serving 11 years, a mother of one child

•Fadwa Hamadeh: from Jerusalem, serving 10 years of sentence, a mother of five children

•Amani Hashim: from Jerusalem, serving 10 years of sentence, a mother of two children

•Etaf Jaradat: from Jenin, awaiting trial, a mother of three children

•Yasmin Sha’aban: from Jenin, awaiting trial

There are currently 29 Palestinian female prisoners held in Israeli occupation prisons, the PPS noted.
