Official: Time for international intervention to disclose secret Israeli prisons

Ramallah (Quds News Network) – The Head of the Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission, Qaddoura Fares, has urgently called upon the international community to take immediate action in exposing clandestine Israeli prisons and detention centers established after October 7, 2023.

Fares emphasized that Palestinian detainees held in occupation jails since October 7 have faced deliberate and severe forms of torture and maltreatment, blatantly violating international laws and principles, as outlined in a comprehensive report by Channel 13.

In a stern statement, Fares highlighted, “The revelations in the Channel 13 report regarding the torture inflicted on those arrested on October 7 and throughout the course of the Israeli aggression underscore the international use of prohibited torture methods against Palestinian detainees.”

He questioned, “What more does the international community need to witness? Is the violence and crime against Palestinian activists in occupation prisons not sufficient? Must we wake up to an unprecedented tragedy in the annals of humanity?”

“These questions resonate as an anguished outcry that we voice daily in the face of humanity,” Fares added.

Condemning the torture methods employed by Israeli forces across all prisons and detention centers, Fares particularly underscored the plight of detainees from the Gaza Strip, abandoned by the International Committee of the Red Cross.

He demanded global intervention to expose hidden Israeli prisons and bring an end to the inhumane treatment of Palestinian detainees.
