Occupied Golan Heights: ‘Israel’ inaugurates ‘Trump Heights’ illegal settlement

Occupied Golan Heights (QNN)- Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday has inaugurated a new illegal settlement in the occupied Golan Heights in Syria, named after US President Donald Trump.

At a naming ceremony, Netanyahu unveiled a “Trump Heights” sign to mark the site of the new illegal settlement.

“This is a historic day,” said Mr Netanyahu, hailing President Trump as “a friend of Israel”.

US Ambassador David Friedman, who attended the ceremony, called the settlement “well deserved, but much appreciated”.

The ceremony comes after the US president in late March recognised Israeli sovereignty over the part of the strategic plateau it seized from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day war.

Israel later annexed the area in a move never recognised by the international community.
