NRC: Israel’s Moves to Establish Sovereignty Over West Bank Breach Int’l Law, Exacerbate Crisis
Occupied West Bank (Quds News Network)- The worsening conditions in the occupied West Bank are related to Israel’s actions aimed to establish sovereignty over the occupied land, stated the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in a statement obtained by Quds News Network.
“The data indicates that Israeli forces are deploying unwarranted use of lethal force against Palestinian civilians,” added Ana Povrzenic, NRC’s country director in Palestine.
The council noted that in the first half of 2024, the occupation state of Israel killed 228 citizens in the West Bank, including 51 children, marking a 65 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
It added that Israel kidnapped in the same period 3,384 Palestinians in the West bank compared to 1,873 in the same period in 2023, destroyed 81 structures and the displaced 499 Palestinians. Also, Israeli settler attacks have also climbed, with 649 incidents recorded in the first half of 2024, compared to 598 in 2023.
