North Gaza: Palestinians under Israeli bombardment and siege for 17 consecutive days

Gaza (Quds News Network)- For 17 consecutive days, about 200,000 Palestinians have been under Israeli bombardment and siege in north Gaza, specifically in the Jabalia refugee camp, without anyone taking action, spokesperson for the Civil Defense in Gaza, Mahmoud Bassal said on Monday.

In a statement, Bassal stated:

“More than 500 martyrs have been brought to hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip, along with dozens of martyrs trapped under homes and in the streets, inaccessible to anyone.

This is the first time since the beginning of the war that the occupation army has besieged an area and then begun operations of bombing, killing, and complete starvation.

We receive numerous pleas from trapped citizens and those stuck under the rubble, but we cannot respond due to the occupation targeting our crews, which increases the number of martyrs.

The occupation has completely prevented the entry of food and essential supplies into Jabalia and is targeting water wells.

Civil defense crews and all medical service providers are also besieged like other citizens in Jabalia.

The occupation has left no one safe and has targeted civil defense crews multiple times, resulting in the martyrdom of 85 of our personnel since the beginning of the aggression.

Everything in Jabalia and the North Gaza Governorate is being bombed without any standards, resulting in martyrs, injured individuals, and those trapped under the rubble, creating an urgent need for our teams to rescue people from the ruins of their homes.

Our teams are operating at minimal capacity in Jabalia, and reaching all missions is impossible. We cannot access all trapped citizens or those under the rubble, especially in areas close to the presence of occupation vehicles.

Our teams are supposed to operate freely and safely according to international humanitarian law, but the occupation does not respect that.

Civil defense vehicles are dilapidated, and fuel is available only in very limited amounts, so our services could stop at any moment.

The area we are working in Jabalia does not exceed one square kilometer, after which we enter a zone of danger and targeting.”
