“No Safe Place to Go”: Israel Issues New Evacuation Orders for Gaza’s Nuseirat Camp

Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Israeli military has issued a new evacuation order for a residential block in central Gaza’s al-Nuseirat refugee camp on Sunday morning. People were heard asking, “Where should we go?” and “There is no safe place,” as Israel intensifies its attacks on Gaza’s so-called “safe zone”.

Avichay Adraee, an Israeli army spokesperson, released a map of residential block 622 in the camp, which he stated must be cleared. He claimed that rockets had been fired at Israel from this area, prompting a response from Israeli forces.

The al-Mawasi “safe zone” area has been heavily targeted by the Israeli military in recent weeks.

The Forensic Architecture website, which has systematically been documenting strikes in Gaza, said that there were five strikes on Mawasi from late May through September 10. Data collected by Dr. Lee Mordechai of Hebrew University, who is tracking developments in Gaza, says that the strikes on Mawasi resumed on November 9, and that in less than a month Israeli struck the area at least eight times, killing scores of people.

According to the UN, some 80.5 percent of Gaza’s territory is under active Israeli-issued evacuation orders.

Palestinians displaced by Israel’s war on Gaza are “increasingly forced to concentrate within the Israeli-designated zone in al-Mawasi”, an area of approximately 41sq km (15.83sq miles) lacking critical infrastructure and services, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

Some 1.9 million people – 90 percent of Gaza’s population – have been displaced at least once by Israel’s war. Of those, roughly 43,580 are estimated to be pregnant women, statistics from the UN Population Fund also show.

Many are crowded into flimsy tents after being ordered to al-Mawasi by the Israeli army.
