Nikki Haley says she won’t run for President if Trump does

Former US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said that she will not stand in Donald Trump’s way if he chooses to run for a second term in 2024.
“I would not run if President Trump ran, and I would talk to him about it,” Haley said, asked by The Associated Press if a possible Trump bid could preclude her own effort, were he to announce first.
“That’s something that we’ll have a conversation about at some point, if that decision is something that has to be made.”
When asked by AP politics reporter Meg Kinnard if she would support Trump if he were to run a second time, she said “Yes.”
I asked @NikkiHaley if she would support Donald Trump if he runs again in 2024.
“Yes,” she told me.
“I would not run if President Trump ran, and I would talk to him about it,” she added. “That’s something that we will have a conversation about, at some point.”

The press event was held on Monday after Haley toured the campus of South Carolina State University, which the AP noted was the first time she had appeared in her home state in months.
Haley served as the governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017.
“That is something we’ll have a conversation about at some point if a decision like that has to be made,” she continued.
In February, Haley said in an interview with Politico Magazine that Trump can’t run for the presidency again and Republicans were wrong to support his campaign to reverse the 2020 election results.
Haley, who called Trump as her friend, said that she is “deeply disturbed” by what has happened to Trump since his election defeat to Joe Biden.
“He’s not going to run for federal office again,” Haley said.
“I don’t think he’s going to be in the picture. I don’t think he can. He’s fallen so far,” Haley said, as it said that Trump will return to seek the presidency in 2024 to avenge his defeat and second impeachment.
She also criticized the Republican Party for supporting Trump’s campaign to reverse the election, which led to the shocking January 6 attack on the US Capitol by his supporters, after Trump gave them a boost into action at a rally outside the White House, where he urged them to march to the Capitol.
“We need to acknowledge he let us down,” she told Politico.
“He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him,” she said.
“And we can’t let that ever happen again.”
Haley confirmed to Politico that she is considering her own run for the presidency in 2024, and said she had not spoken to Trump since January 6.
