NGO: 95% of Palestinian prisoners tortured as soon as they are arrested
Ramallah (QNN)- The Palestinian Prisoners Club said Wednesday that 95% of Palestinian prisoners are usually being subjected to torture as soon as they are arrested. Torture continues during interrogation and even after putting them in public jails.
The NGO also said in a statement that Israeli authorities have killed 73 prisoners under torture since 1967. One of the main cases was the case of Arafat Jaradat, who was murdered in 2013 under torture in Mageddo jail after only five days of arrest.
The statement stated that in 2014, Israeli forces killed Raed Ja’bari under torture, and in 2018 they killed Yaseen Saradeej, who was tortured and shot at close range. In the same year, Israeli forces killed Aziz Oweisat under torture as well.
In September 2019, Israeli forces also killed Muhammad Khatib Rimawi the moment he was arrested from his house after torturing him. Nassar Taqatqa was also murdered under torture back in July 16, 2019.
