New Israeli Army Scandal: Failed Prisoner Rescue Operation Ends in His Death

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- Israeli Channel 12 has released new details about the death of Sahar Baruch, a 25-year-old settler imprisoned by Hamas during the operation in Be’eri settlement on October 7, 2023. Although his death was announced last year, Hamas recently released a video showing Baruch alive at the time of his capture and later killed in Gaza.

The report revealed that a year ago, Israeli forces launched a mission to rescue what they believed was Noa Argamani, another soldier prisoner. Soldiers from the elite Sayeret Matkal unit were certain they were rescuing Argamani, but the intelligence provided to them was incorrect.

According to the report, the unit reached the building where Baruch was held. As they entered, resistance fighters unleashed heavy gunfire. The rescue operation quickly turned into an evacuation mission. Two Israeli soldiers sustained serious injuries during the intense firefight, forcing the unit to withdraw.

Hours later, military intelligence confirmed a shocking revelation: the person inside the building was not Noa Argamani but Sahar Baruch, the nephew of retired Israeli General Yossi Becher. Baruch was fatally shot during the battle, with a bullet striking his head.

Baruch’s family responded to the Channel 12 report, saying that military pressure on resistance fighters often leads to the death of prisoners.

An Israeli army spokesperson announced that the military would thoroughly investigate the incident and draw lessons from the failed operation.
