Netanyahu, UAE Crown Prince nominated for Nobel Peace Prize
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and United Arab Emirates Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for signing peace deal that opened the door for ‘Israel’ to normalize ties with other Arab countries.
The nomination was submitted by Lord David Trimble, a former First Minister of Northern Ireland and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, receiving the prize in 1998. He won the prize for his efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in Northern Ireland.
Because Netanyahu has been nominated by a prize laureate, the prize committee is required to discuss the issue.
If Netanyahu were to be granted the prize, he would be the fourth Israeli to receive it since it was first handed out in 1901.
