Netanyahu pledges to build wall between occupied Palestinian territories and Jordan

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Jordanian border on Wednesday, where he pledged to build a “fortified wall to prevent smuggling in coordination with neighboring countries.” His announcement comes just days after a Jordanian man killed three Israelis at King Hussein Bridge crossing (Al-Karama border crossing), driven by the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

In a video posted to his official account on the social media platform X, Netanyahu addressed the situation while inspecting the border alongside senior Israeli military officials. He spoke of attempts to smuggle fighters and weapons from Jordan into the occupied West Bank and the occupation state of Israel.

“Israel is in the midst of a multi-front conflict, and we must secure our eastern border with Jordan,” Netanyahu said.

He added, “We will work here to establish a fortified wall against smuggling attempts, and we are doing this in coordination with our neighbors.”

The wall Netanyahu referred to revives a project that was proposed nearly 20 years ago but never materialized.

Netanyahu’s visit follows Sunday’s operation carried out by Jordanian citizen Maher Al-Jazi, in which he killed three Israeli guards at King Hussein Bridge crossing. Netanyahu described the incident as a “difficult day for Israel.”

In the aftermath of the operation, Israel temporarily closed all border crossings with Jordan, reopening the King Hussein Bridge but keeping it closed to cargo shipments.
