Netanyahu boasts about Israeli Airstrike Near Presidential Palace in Damascus

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu boasted about the Israeli airstrike near the presidential palace in Damascus yesterday, framing it as a move to “send a message to the Syrian regime.” The attack, which occurred on Thursday night, raises significant concerns about Israel’s military actions in the region.

In discussions with Muwafaq Tarif, the spiritual leader of the Druze in the occupation state, Netanyahu framed the attack as a commitment to safeguarding the Syrian Druze.

The Syrian presidency had condemned the assault as a “serious escalation,” characterizing it as a reckless act that undermines national security and heightens regional tensions. It added that the attack “reflects the continuation of reckless actions that seek to destabilize the country and exacerbate security crises, targeting national security and the unity of the Syrian people.” The Israeli attack came shortly after the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Asaad Al-Shibani, reiterated that his country does not intend to harm Israel, stressing that “new Syria will not be a source of instability for any party in the region, including Israel.”

Following the collapse of the Assad regime, Israeli incursions and airstrikes in Syria intensified significantly. Israel has targeted military installations, weapon depots, and civilian targets.  Israel claimed that these attacks aimed to prevent the transfer of “advanced weaponry” to the new regime. Despite the shifting power dynamics within Syria, Israel has maintained a consistent military strategy, conducting airstrikes to assert its interests while intervening in Syria’s internal affairs and leveraging certain minority groups.
