‘My Bad’! Twitch Streamer Asmongold Apologizes After Backlash for Calling Palestinians ‘Inferior’

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- Twitch streamer and YouTuber Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt is facing major backlash after a racist rant during a livestream went viral. Hoyt’s secondary Twitch account, “zackrawrr,” was banned following his racist comments about Muslims and Palestinians killed in Gaza. Responding to the uproar, Hoyt posted a weak apology on X, saying, “Looking back on it, I was way too much of an asshole about the Palestine thing.”
During the stream, Hoyt, who often comments on trending topics, shared inflammatory remarks about the ongoing Gaza genocide. He baselessly claimed that genocide is embedded in Sharia law and expressed no sympathy for the thousands of Palestinians killed, a death toll that has surpassed 40,000. Hoyt remarked, “They’re terrible people… They’d be doing the same thing.”
These statements triggered widespread outrage from Twitch users and streamers, with many condemning his hate speech. Hoyt escalated further by labeling Palestinians as part of an “inferior culture” and suggested their values conflict with Western ideals. As a result, his “zackrawrr” channel, which had 1.9 million followers, was banned by Twitch in line with its community guidelines against hate speech.
Popular streamer Hasan “Hasanabi” Piker, a long-time supporter of Palestinian rights, invited Hoyt onto his channel to challenge the offensive remarks. Though Hoyt initially stood by his words, he later backtracked, but his apology was widely seen as inadequate.
On X, Hoyt wrote, “My bad. Of course no one deserves to have their life destroyed even if they do things or have views I find regressive.” Despite the apology, fans criticized it as insufficient, with one follower commenting, “Saying an entire culture and ethnicity is ‘inferior’ is literally Nazism & racism. It’s disgusting.”
While his secondary account remains banned, Hoyt’s primary Twitch channel, “Asmongold,” with 3.5 million followers, is still active. Twitch has yet to release an official statement regarding the ban.
