Moroccan officials arrived ‘Israel’ to prepare to open diplomatic office

A group of Moroccan diplomats arrived in ‘Israel’ on Sunday to start preparing for the reopening of a diplomatic mission in Tel Aviv next month, Israeli media reported.

Last week, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita announced that diplomatic missions in Tel Aviv and Rabat will open within two weeks, after closing it some 20 years ago in solidarity with the Palestinians following the outbreak of the Second Intifada.

“Morocco and Israel are making huge strides on their commitments to resume full diplomatic relations, promote economic cooperation and to reopen their liaison offices very quickly,” White House Senior Advisor Jared Kushner said.

The Moroccan diplomats is due to hold a number of meetings with the Foreign Ministry in the coming days to prepare for the arrival of an official high-level delegation next month and the reopening of the diplomatic office, an Israeli official told The Times of Israel.

Morocco is the fourth Arab country to normalize ties with Israel following the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan.
