Moroccan FM: Talks with Israel began in 2018, led by the king

Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita told i24NEWS on Wednesday that Morocco began talks with ‘Israel’ in 2018.
“Did I meet Binyamin Netanyahu in 2018? If Israel confirms it, we do not deny,” Bourita said.
Bourita said that the Moroccan king Mohammed VI spoke with Donald Trump and sent a delegation to the US to meet both Americans and Israelis in 2018.
“His majesty spoke with the US president and sent delegations to the US [in May 2018], not only to meet with the Americans, but also with the Israelis,” Bourita stated.
He added, “Moroccan diplomacy’s main trait is that we work in full discretion. Morocco has never been a show-off.”
Regarding Palestine, Bourita said that “Defending the Palestinian cause is not incompatible with normal relations with Israel.”
He added, “Moroccans living in Israel have never severed their ties with Morocco.”
On Tuesday, a joint American-Israeli delegation arrived Morocco to formalize the normalization deals.
Morocco is the fourth Arab country to normalize ties with Israel following the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan.
