More civilian casualties in Gaza amid renewed Israeli airstrikes, artillery shelling
Gaza (Quds News Network) – Renewed Israeli airstrikes on Gaza over the last few hours have resulted in numerous civilian casualties, with fatalities and injuries reported during the ongoing bombardment by Israeli occupation forces.
The attacks have been concentrated in various areas of the Gaza Strip, particularly in central and southern regions. Powerful explosions were heard north of Gaza City, according to local sources.
In central Gaza, reports indicate that Israeli artillery targeted the minaret of the Old City Mosque in Deir al-Balah, while simultaneous strikes hit the nearby Bureij refugee camp.
Ongoing Israeli artillery shelling has been reported in northern Gaza, as well as in the eastern regions of the central governorate, specifically in the Bureij and Nuseirat refugee camps, and the densely populated southern city of Khan Yunis, housing refugees and displaced individuals from the northern Gaza Strip.
In Khan Yunis, intense shelling around the European Hospital southeast of the city resulted in the death of four civilians. Additionally, heavy artillery bombardment on a house in the al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza led to the death of one civilian and injuries to two others. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society has confirmed the transportation of the deceased and injured to the hospital.
Israeli atrocities against the healthcare system have led to the murder of 312 healthcare workers, including specialized personnel since the outbreak of the Israeli aggression on October 7.
The aggression has also resulted in the deliberate destruction of 104 ambulances. Israeli forces have targeted 142 health facilities, rendering 23 hospitals and 53 health centers non-operational. Currently, 99 healthcare workers, including hospital directors in northern Gaza, are detained in Israeli custody.
In a preliminary assessment, the continuous Israeli aggression on Gaza from land, sea, and air since October 7 has resulted in over 21,000 fatalities and approximately 56,000 injuries. Thousands remain missing, with 70% of the missing individuals being children and women.
