Malnutrition Kills 69 Children in Gaza as Israel’s Blockade Triggers Mass Starvation
Gaza (Quds News Network)- A 1.5-year-old girl, called Sana'a al-Lahham, died from malnutrition in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, according to a medical source at Shuhada’a Al-Aqsa Hospital. Her death adds to a growing toll of starvation-related fatalities as Israel’s blockade continues for the 139th consecutive day.
According to the Government Media Office in Gaza, the total number of children who have died due to malnutrition has risen to 69. Meanwhile, 620 patients have lost their lives as a direct result of the ongoing shortage of food and medicine.
Israel has imposed a total closure on all crossings into Gaza. In the past 139 days, Israeli forces have blocked the entry of 76,450 humanitarian aid and fuel trucks.
The starvation crisis is no accident, the Government Media Office said. It documented 42 charity kitchens and 57 food and aid distribution centers that were directly targeted by Israeli strikes. Aid convoys were attacked 121 times during this period.
The office also reported that 877 Palestinians were killed at American-Israeli “aid centers”. At least 5,666 people were injured in such incidents, with 42 still missing.
The press release warned that 650,000 children across Gaza are now at risk of death from hunger and malnutrition. The crisis is especially deadly for those already vulnerable, including around 12,500 cancer patients and approximately 60,000 pregnant women who lack access to proper treatment and nutrition.
The Government Media Office condemned the deliberate starvation campaign. It held Israel fully responsible for the humanitarian catastrophe and stressed that the United States, Germany, and France are complicit through silence, support, and political cover.
“This is a historic and ongoing crime,” the statement read, urging urgent international action. It called on the world to stop the starvation policy, lift the blockade immediately, and allow unrestricted humanitarian aid into Gaza.
