Major Airlines Keep Flights to Israel Suspended as Yemen’s Armed Forces Target Ben Gurion Airport

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- Major international airlines have not resumed flights to Israel, with some extending their suspension in recent days. This comes as Yemen continues its aerial blockade on Israel to pressure it to end the genocide in Gaza.
On Sunday, the Israeli army claimed that it intercepted a missile fired from Yemen. Air raid sirens sounded across occupied Jerusalem and southern Israel. Soon after, Israel temporarily halted departures and arrivals at Ben Gurion Airport.
Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement claimed responsibility. Military spokesperson Yahya Saree said their missile forces launched a hypersonic ballistic missile at the airport in occupied Jaffa. He said the strike disrupted airport activity and forced millions of Zionist settlers into shelters.
Saree said the attack was a response to Israel’s daily massacres in Gaza. He added that most airlines had already complied with their ban on flights to the airport, leading to major disruption in air traffic.
This is not the first missile launch from Yemen this month. On Thursday, the Israeli army claimed it had intercepted two missiles fired from Yemen. One Israeli was reportedly injured while seeking shelter during the first attack.
Yemen has stepped up its attacks on Israel since the genocide in Gaza began. The operations from Yemen are a show of solidarity with the Palestinians and a response to the Israeli genocide in Gaza. Saree said more military operations would follow until Israel halts its assault and lifts the siege on the Strip.
The US had previously said the Houthis agreed to stop operations against ships in the Red Sea, but that deal did not include missile attacks on Israel.
The ongoing Houthi strikes have increased pressure on air carriers and passengers. Major airlines like Lufthansa, Emirates, Air France, and American Airlines have yet to resume normal operations to Israel, citing security concerns.
Meanwhile, Gaza continues to suffer under heavy bombardment. The humanitarian situation remains dire, fueling broader regional anger and prompting further operations across the region.
