Israeli authorities have been detaining Al Akhras at Kaplan hospital since September, The Israeli supreme court rejected to release him and froze his administrative detention, trying to force him to end his strike.
The Israeli supreme court had rejected a request to transfer Al Akhras to a Palestinian hospital, which was described by the head of the Prisoners’ Society, Qaddourah Fares, as an “execution order.”
Maher Al Akhras has been arrested under administrative detention without any charges or trials. Administrative detention is illegal under international law, however, the occupation state uses it to repress the Palestinian people.
