Lebanon says two Israeli gunboats infiltrated its territorial waters twice

Beirut (QNN)- The Lebanese army announced that two Israeli gunboats infiltrated Lebanon’s territorial waters twice on Thursday and Wednesday.

A joint statement by the guidance counseling division and Lebanon’s National News Agency stated that Lebanon is having a fight with ‘Israel’ over a part of the Mediterranean, which is nearly 860 square km size and rich with oil and gas.

The Lebanese army stated: “today at 04:05 local time (02:05 GMT) a gunboat of the Israeli enemy infiltrated the Lebanese territorial water off Ra’s al-Naqurah for approximately 149 meters for three minutes.”

In another statement, the army added that an Israeli gunboat infiltrated the Lebanese water yesterday at the same location for 200 meters for two minutes.

The Lebanese army noted that it has been cooperating with the UNIFIL to pursue the matter.

The Israeli infiltration took place despite of the recent border demarcation agreement that has been mediated by the US and sponsored by the UN.
