Lebanese Prisoner Executed by Israeli Forces During Interrogation
Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- A Lebanese prisoner captured by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon was executed during interrogation, according to Israeli media. The incident occurred on Saturday evening during Israel’s ongoing ground invasion of Lebanon. The identity of the prisoner, allegedly a Hezbollah fighter, has not yet been revealed.
The Israeli military confirmed that it has launched an internal investigation into the ‘death’ of the prisoner, who was kidnapped in southern Lebanon. According to the Jerusalem Post, the military acknowledged that the man, who it described as ‘affiliated with Hezbollah’
, was killed while in Israeli custody.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir sharply criticized the decision to open an investigation, calling it “a disgrace” to even probe the death of a Hezbollah fighter.
Israeli media, including Israel Hayom and Channel 14, revealed that the prisoner was killed by a reservist soldier from Unit 504, the Israeli intelligence unit responsible for interrogations. Reports alleged that the man had been kidnapped from a tunnel during a clash with Golani Brigade forces. While under interrogation, he was reportedly killed by the reservist.
The Israeli military also announced that 10 Hezbollah fighters have been captured since the beginning of its ground operations in southern Lebanon earlier this month.
During its offensive in Gaza, the Israeli army has labeled all Palestinians abducted from the strip as Hamas members or affiliates. However, human rights groups have repeatedly exposed the identities of those abductees, revealing that most of those described by the Israeli army as Hamas members were, in fact, civilians.
