Killed Still in Prison Uniform: Israeli Forces Shoot 3 Detainees Immediately After Release in Northern Gaza
Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israeli forces shot and killed three Palestinian detainees shortly after their release in Al-Sudaniya area, northwest of Gaza, on Saturday evening, according to medical sources and eyewitnesses.
Medical officials at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City confirmed that the bodies of the three Palestinians arrived after Israeli soldiers opened fire on them near the northwest region of the Strip.
Eyewitnesses reported that the three men had just been released and were fatally shot moments later by Israeli troops.
The incident comes amid intensified Israeli military assaults in northern Gaza, which began with heavy bombardments on October 5, followed by a ground incursion.
The attacks are part of a larger strategy to forcefully displace residents and escalate civilian casualties. According to official figures, the ongoing assault has resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,800 Palestinians, including women, children, and the elderly.
Earlier on Saturday, Israel released 20 Palestinian detainees who had been kidnapped during its military offensive in Gaza, ongoing since October 7, 2023. The release was coordinated with the International Committee of the Red Cross, with the detainees transported to the European Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
According to Al-Araby TV, the Israeli military freed the detainees near the Zikim checkpoint along Gaza’s northern coast. As the men re-entered Gaza, they were forced to pass through Israeli military positions in Al-Sudaniya. Upon reaching this area, Israeli military vehicles opened fire, killing three of the released detainees.
The victims were identified as Hamza Mohammed Al-Hatto, Ali Marouf, and Nadi Marouf. Local sources reported that the men were shot near Al-Khaldi Mosque along the coastal road in northwest Gaza, shortly after their release. The recovery of their bodies from the area proved challenging due to the heavy military presence.
Since launching its ground operation on October 27, 2023, the Israeli army has kidnapped thousands of Palestinians, including women, children, and healthcare workers. While a small number of detainees have been released, the fate of many remains unknown.
In recent months, Israel has released dozens of Palestinian detainees in sporadic batches. Human rights organizations and Israeli media have previously reported on the severe mistreatment of Palestinian detainees, including torture and medical neglect, leading to multiple deaths in Israeli detention facilities.
