Kamala Harris Issues Statement Marking October 7 First Anniversary, Echoing Debunked Misinformation
Washington (Quds News Network)- In a statement marking the first anniversary of the October 7th resistance operation, US Vice President Kamala Harris expressed solidarity with the occupation state of Israel, but her remarks have sparked controversy due to claims that echo debunked misinformation.
Harris described the operation by Hamas as “pure evil” and referenced alleged instances of sexual violence, claiming that women were raped “on the side of the road.” However, forensic pathologists and Israeli authorities, according to Haaretz, have refuted these claims, stating that no evidence of rape or genital mutilation was found during the examination of victims’ bodies.
Investigations by Israeli forensic teams found no signs of sexual assault on the bodies of victims. Reports from Haaretz, based on discussions with forensic experts, emphasized that no physical evidence of rape or genital mutilation was documented. This has raised concerns about the use of unverified claims in Harris’s speech, particularly as these allegations had already been discredited.
Harris’s statement also expressed sorrow over 1,200 Israeli soldiers and settlers killed in the operation, including 46 American colonialists, calling it the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Israeli investigations had revealed that the Israeli army applied the Hannibal Directive during the event, killing several Israelis.
Harris reiterated her commitment to ensuring Israel’s security and eliminating Hamas’s ability to govern Gaza.
