Jordanian Authorities Arrest Activist Ayman Aballi Over Videos Urging Action Against Israel’s Gaza Siege
Amman (Quds News Network)- Jordanian authorities have arrested activist Ayman Aballi for posting several videos urging the government and the public to take action to end the Israeli siege and starvation in Gaza where people are starving to death.
Several reports have confirmed that Aballi was arrested and referred to court by the Jordanian General Intelligence Directorate after posting a video protesting the Israeli blockade on aid entering the Gaza Strip, now ongoing for over four months, and criticizing the inaction of the Jordanian government, the public, and social media influencers.
Aballi has been posting content, including videos and posts, condemning the Israeli siege and ongoing genocide in Gaza since the start of the assault in October 2023.
Both Jordanians and Palestinians in the country have shown solidarity with the Palestinian cause and against the ongoing genocide through social media posts, protests, and various forms of activism.
Last year, Amnesty International urged Jordan to end its repression of pro-Gaza protests and release people detained for exercising their rights to free speech.
According to Human Rights Watch, Jordanian authorities have arrested and harassed scores of Jordanians who participated in pro-Palestine protests across the country or engaged in online advocacy since October 2023.
Under Israeli military protection, settlers demolished a Palestinian school and nearby homes in the northern Jordan Valley, intensifying displacement pressure on Bedouin communities in the occupied West Bank.
Two Palestinians, including a 14-year-old boy, were shot and killed by Israeli settlers on Tuesday in the village of Al-Mughayyir in the occupied West Bank. A total of three Palestinians have been killed so far today by Israeli settlers across the occupied territories, including two children, amid a spike in settler violence against Palestinians.
Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot has urged the EU to impose sanctions on Israel ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg, joining seven EU countries, including France and Sweden, in the call. He also slammed the Israeli assault on Lebanon as “totally unacceptable.”
