Jordan presents more documents proving Sheikh Jarrah residents’ ownership of houses

Amman (QNN)- Jordan has presented more documents for the residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, proving their ownership of their houses, reported Shehab.
The documents prove that the Jordanian authorities started in 1967 transferring the ownership of the Sheikh Jarrah lands to its residents.
The reports also stated that the documents were delivered to the Israeli Supreme court. They prove that Jordan had already started transferring the ownership of the lands to their current residents.
A settlers organization had filed a lawsuit against residents of the neighborhood, claiming that the land on which they live was owned by Jewish people from Yemen before the Nakba.
In 1956, the 28 refugee families, who lost their homes during the Nakba and are currently threatened with forced expulsion, reached an agreement with the Jordanian Ministry of Construction and Development and the UN refugee agency UNRWA to provide housing for them in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, which was along with the West Bank under Jordanian rule.
According to the Civic Coalition for Palestinian Rights in Jerusalem (CCPRJ), the Jordanian government provided the land while UNRWA covered the cost for constructing 28 homes for these families.
This, however, was interrupted by the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, including Jerusalem, in 1967 which prevented the registration of the houses under the names of families.
