Jordan deports husband of Palestinian former prisoner wanted by US
Amman (QNN)- The authorities of Jordan decided on Thursday to deport Nizar Tamimi, the husband of the former prisoner in Israeli jails Ahlam Tamimi who is wanted by the US.
Nizar’s Jordanian residency was being renewed every 3 months. After its most recent expiry, the authorities informed him that it would not be renewed again and that he had to leave the country.
The Jordanian authorities gave Nizar 48 hours to leave the country. He arrived in Qatar on Thursday.
Nizar (46-year-old Fatah member) and Ahlam (39-year-old Hamas member) were sentenced to life imprisonment in Israeli jails but they were released in the 2011 prisoners swap between the Palestinian resistance and the occupation state.
They were engaged while in jail then they got married after being released.
Jordan has been under pressure from the United States to extradite Ahlam Tamimi, who is wanted by the US on a charge of conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction against American nationals.
Ahlam al-Tamimi is on the FBI’s list of “most wanted terrorists” for her role in a resistance operation in Jerusalem during the second Intifada.
